This is a work in progress

Welcome graphic

No doubt the simple things in life can provide the most enjoyment.  Painting animals on river rocks is one of those things.  This all started with a  book on Tole painting about a year ago .   It has evolved into painting mostly Dogs and Cats which most people seem to enjoy.

These paintings are a step up from the beginning.  I started with very small rocks with mice, ladybugs, etc.  What's great is that the more you do the better it gets.  Size and kind of rock, colors of paint and brush type will come with just a little effort.  This is a craft for just about all ages, and the cost to start is very little.  Time and effort is your greatest investment.  Just have fun.

These are a few of my early paintings.  Very simple.  I'll show you step by step how to paint a mouse over the next week or so.

Early Paintings

This is a "mouse rock" about 2" long and 1" wide. Size is not important as long as it's in the general shape of a mouse.  The entire top of this rock should be painted a very light gray.

This is the underside of the mouse.  Paint all white, let dry and then add some red to white and paint 4 legs.  Pink will be used again for ears and nose on topside.

Here are four completed mice.  Rocks are about 21/2 to 3" long and about 11/2 wide.  Use your liner brush to paint very thin white lines from front to back on entire rock.  Use pink to paint ears.  Dip end of brush in pink and dab in nose, same with eyes but use black.  Sometimes I put a white dot in eyes, you decide, it's your mouse.
